This is something that has been rolling around in the back of my mind for a while.... I thought it would be interesting to see what you all have to say about the topic.

There seem to be two competing schools of thought on this. One is that "people are basically good", but sometimes resort to doing bad things because of their conditions/environment/failings of society/etc. This kind of thinking seems prevalent mostly on the politically left-leaning side of the spectrum. (I would call it "wishful thinking".)

The other school of thought is that people are basically bad, but can choose to do good. I think this idea tends to align with Christian philosophy, i.e. that man is "fallen" and therefore lives in a state of sin, but by faith/choices/good works can become good. I think this also aligns with conservative ideology / politically right-leaning people who tend to be more rational / logic-based in their view of the world (whereas the left are more emotional-based), because any rational person looking around at the condition of the world would have to acknowledge there are a lot of bad people out there.

My personal take on it is that people are inherently... selfish. I view selfishness as a bad quality in general (although there are always limits/exceptions), so if there is a spectrum from good to bad, most people are somewhere on the bad side.

Certainly humans are capable of great evil, i.e. your Hitlers, Stalins, etc., but that's the extreme. Most people are not murderers -- but I do think most people are predictably too self-centered in their decision making. I'm talking about people who care about their own desires more than (or at the expense of) the needs of others, if they even think of others at all, and who take advantage whenever they feel they can get away with it. People who naturally lie, cheat, or steal for personal gain (no matter how small). In my experience the majority % of people fall into this category.

(And yes it should be stated here that "good" people do exist, i.e. people who genuinely care about others above themselves, who often make sacrifices at great personal cost for the needs of others, or for the objective moral "right thing to do". But based on my "lived experience" I would say this is a minority % of the population to be sure. When you find genuinely good people, you should cherish them!)

All that being said -- if people are generally selfish (or on the spectrum of being "bad", if you will), why isn't the world an even more horrible place than it already is?

It occurs to me that there is at least one other force going in the other direction -- people's inherent need to be "liked" by other people. Certainly the importance of this influences different people to varying degrees -- some people are extremely sensitive to what others think of them, some very little so. But it seems to me that this a fairly universal phenomenon.

So there we have 2 competing forces -- one the desire to get whatever we want regardless of who's expense at which it comes, but at the same time the desire to be liked or thought well of by others, which restrains us a bit.

Am I on the right track here, or am I missing something?

The current game save was corrupted (probably happened when the server crashed few days ago), but I pulled the previous save from backup and it loaded. It probably took the game back in time by 1 turn but that's the best I can do....

Trump did nothing for the economy except give tax cuts for the top1%. It's an urban legend that Republicans do better with the economy, never actually happened.

Have to disagree. I'm not in the top 1% (at best I'm in the top 50% lol) but my taxes went down under Trump. Business was good under Trump... it was during his term I achieved the highest income I've ever earned, and was able to buy a house. Where interest rates are now, I would have zero chance of being able to do that today.

I'm old enough to have lived and worked through several up & down cycles of the economy. Clinton screwed things up in the late 90's with his interest rate hikes. Bush Jr. was the first president to actually lower our family's taxes in my lifetime, and the economy was mostly good during his time, until everything fell apart around 2008. Obama then comes in and does every wrong step, prolonging the recession and making it worse... he raised our taxes, and tacked on an $800/year Obamacare mandate that still makes my blood boil to this day. Finally Trump came in and got the government off our backs. Trump 2016-2020 was the best economic conditions I've ever had.

Now under Biden/Harris I'm quite literally on the verge of bankruptcy. My income has not increased since 2021, while my expenses have increased dramatically. My business is being squeezed by the Biden/Harris-caused inflation. (Why do you think I've been absent from atWar the last 2 years? I've been scrambling, working my ass off trying to make money, and still failing to get ahead....)

Any normal person who took a basic economics class could have foreseen massive inflation would be the inevitable result of the Biden/Harris economic policies (i.e. printing money like there's no tomorrow.... how'd that work out for Germany in the 1930's? Or Argentina in the 2010's?)

I'm hanging in for the hope that Trump will win and re-instate his economic policies of 2016. If that happens, we'll be okay. But if, God forbid, Harris wins, I'll almost certainly be bankrupt in the next year. My business cannot survive another year of Biden/Harris.

Bill Ackman, a man who previously supported democrats, has written an OUTSTANDING post on X detailing the 33 reasons why he is now supporting Trump. (I encourage you to read the full post here: https://x.com/BillAckman/status/1844802469680873747).

Quote:

While the 33 actions I describe below are those of the Democratic Party and the Biden/Harris administration, they are also the actions and policies that unfortunately our most aggressive adversaries would likely implement if they wanted to destroy America from within, and had the ability to take control of our leadership.

These are the 33:

(1) open the borders to millions of immigrants who were not screened for their risk to the country, dumping them into communities where the new immigrants overwhelm existing communities and the infrastructure to support the new entrants, at the expense of the historic residents,

(2) introduce economic policies and massively increase spending without regard to their impact on inflation and the consequences for low-income Americans and the increase in our deficit and national debt,

(3) withdraw from Afghanistan, abandoning our local partners and the civilians who worked alongside us in an unprepared, overnight withdrawal that led to American casualties and destroyed the lives of Afghani women and girls for generations, against the strong advice of our military leadership, and thereafter not showing appropriate respect for their loss at a memorial ceremony in their honor,

(4) introduce thousands of new and unnecessary regulations in light of the existing regulatory regime that interfere with our businesses' ability to compete, restraining the development of desperately needed housing, infrastructure, and energy production with the associated inflationary effects,

(5) modify the bail system so that violent criminals are released without bail,

(6) destroy our street retailers and communities and promote lawlessness by making shoplifting (except above large thresholds) no longer a criminal offense,

(7) limit and/or attempt to limit or ban fracking and LNG so that U.S. energy costs increase substantially and the U.S. loses its energy independence,

(8) promote DEI ideologies that award jobs, awards, and university admissions on the basis of race, sexual identity and gender criteria, and teach our students and citizens that the world can only be understood as an unfair battle between oppressors and the oppressed, where the oppressors are only successful due to structural racism or a rigged system and the oppressed are simply victims of an unfair system and world,

(9) educate our elementary children that gender is fluid, something to be chosen by a child, and promote hormone blockers and gender reassignment surgeries to our youth without regard to the longer-term consequences to their mental and physical health, and allow biological boys and men to compete in girls and women's sports, depriving girls and women of scholarships, awards, and other opportunities that they would have rightly earned otherwise,

(10) encourage and celebrate massive protests and riots that lead to the burning and destruction of local retail and business establishments while at the same time requiring schools to be shuttered because of the risk of Covid-19 spreading during large gatherings,

(11) encourage and celebrate anti-American and anti-Israel protests and flag burning on campuses around the country with no consequences for the protesters who violate laws or university codes and policies,

(12) allow antisemitism to explode with no serious efforts from the administration to quell this hatred,

(13) mandate vaccines that have not been adequately tested nor have their risks been properly considered compared with the potential benefits adjusted for the age and health of the individual, censoring the contrary advice of top scientists around the world,

(14) shut down free speech in media and on social media platforms that is inconsistent with government policies and objectives,

(15) use the U.S., state, and local legal systems to attack and attempt to jail, take off the campaign trail, and/or massively fine candidates for the presidency without regard to the merits or precedential issues of the case,

(16) seek to defund the police and promote anti-police rhetoric causing a loss of confidence in those who are charged with protecting us,

(17) use government funds to subsidize auto companies and internet providers with vastly more expensive, dated and/or lower-quality technology when greatly superior and cheaper alternatives are available from companies that are owned and/or managed by individuals not favored by the current administration,

(18) mandate in legislation and otherwise government solutions to problems when the private sector can do a vastly better, faster, and cheaper job,

(19) seek to ban gas-powered cars and stoves without regard to the economic and practical consequences of doing so,

(20) take no serious actions when 45 American citizens are killed by terrorists and 12 are taken hostage,

(21) hold back armaments and weaponry from our most important ally in the Middle East in the midst of their hostage negotiations, hostages who include American citizens who have now been held for more than one year,

(22) eliminate sanctions on one of our most dangerous enemies enabling them to generate $150 billion+ of cash reserves from oil sales, which they can then use to fund terrorist proxy organizations who attack us and our allies. Exchange five American hostages held by Iran for five Iranians plus $6 billion of cash in the worst hostage negotiation in history setting a disastrous and dangerous precedent,

(23) remove known terrorist organizations from the terrorist list so we can provide aid to their people, and allow them to shoot rockets at U.S. assets and military bases with little if any military response from us,

(24) lie to the American people about the cognitive health of the president and accuse those who provide video evidence of his decline of sharing doctored videos and being right wing conspirators,

(25) do nothing about the deteriorating health of our citizens driven by the food industrial complex, the fraudulent USDA food pyramid, and the inclusion of ingredients in our food that are banned by other countries around the world which are more protective of their citizens,

(26) do nothing about the proliferation of new vaccines that are not properly analyzed for their risk versus the potential benefit for healthy children who are mandated to receive them,

(27) do nothing about the continued exemption from liability for the pharma industry that has led to a proliferation of mandatory vaccines for children without considering the potential cumulative effects of the now mandated 72-shot regime,

(28) convince our minority youth that they are victims of a rigged system and that the American dream is not available to them,

(29) fail to provide adequate Secret Service protection for alternative presidential candidates,

(30) litigate to prevent alternative candidates from getting on the ballot, and take other anti-competitive steps including threatening political consultants who wish to work for alternative candidates for the presidency, and limit the potential media access for other candidates by threatening the networks' future access to the administration and access to 'scoops' if they platform an alternative candidate,

(31) select the Democratic nominee for president in a backroom process by undisclosed party leaders without allowing Americans to choose between candidates in an open primary,

(32) choose an inferior candidate for the presidency when other much more qualified candidates are available and interested to serve,

(33) litigate to make it illegal for states to require proof of citizenship, voter ID, and/or residence in order to vote at a time when many Americans have lost confidence in the accuracy and trustworthiness of our voting system.

13.10.2024 in Bets are open!!!
Written by Dominicano, 12.10.2024 at 12:21

I propose a bet button for 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 games where players place their bet before starting the game and at the end of each game the winner or winners take the accumulated lot, I think that with something like this the competitive ones even the cw they would be more interesting....

Yes this is the plan. May be a few years before I get around to it though.

As the first step in our new strategy to transform atWar into a Reddit-style social media company, I've made some new forums -- check them out!

Any suggestions for other new forums we should add? Please let us know in the comments here!

I'm also realizing that there are too many forums already in some places, for example there are way too many atWar-related forums. I'm open to any suggestions for forums that we should remove, or combine.

I've been thinking about the problems atWar has been having with low player retention/etcetera, and thought about what could be done to save this game. Then an idea hit me! What do a website that serves college students, a bird company, a clock manufacturer, an aerospace company, and a company that sells personalized tubes all have in common? They all became social media outlets!

Facebook was originally a college website, X was originally called Twitter, a company that sells birds and bird products, mySpace(now defunct, but once was a huge deal) originally built rockets, TikTok originally sold clocks, and YouTube sold tubes.

With this in mind, I propose converting atWar into a Reddit like social media company, where people create threads and post on them, with a focus on military history/strategy, and modern day foreign policy, with a cool game that happens to be on the website. This way, there will always be a core of fans for the game, and a steady pipeline of people who have interests in related topics joining the game as well.

Since the website will be largely converted into a social media platform, the game ranks will have to only be visible in the forums for the game, and a prestige system focusing on the number of posts/threads/helpful replies will have to be introduced. There will also have to be an additional premium subscription for the social media side(perhaps $.99/month and $5/year to go ad free, and have the right to have signatures/profile pictures).

100% agree. Unsarcastically let's do this.... as it is the forums are the best part of atWar

We are completly in the Dark about Dave's whereabouts. promises to be back in january 2023 only to be in may 2024 without any knowledge of where he is. We don't know how profitable the game even is; or if Dave is planning to shut off the servers at any moment. The servers are being paid by someone who we are unaware of his whereabouts... and who also refuses to sell despite clearly not having the time for the game. Isn't it scary that the servers could get turned off at any minute?

Don't worry, the servers will not be shut off as long as I'm the owner. (Or maybe I shouldn't say that and let you all be afraid, so you'll play more while you still can? )

Anyway all the staff know how to reach me. I usually get back to them within a day or two.

You can relax

Fox News, Daily Mail, NBC, CNN - I do not take any information for granted. My conclusions about Trump are mostly made from watching his interviews and rallies throughout the years. I myself vote in my country for the option which is more similiar to Republican Party, just more liberal when it comes social issues. Republican Party today would be much better positioned without Trump.
I mean, the guy sells bibles, sneakers and perfume... Presidential candidate!

Okay, thanks for sharing. I respect your opinion even though its different from my own. I still love Trump

Regarding the 2nd "accomplishment" pertaining to unemployment... I just heard another way that the employment numbers are misleading is that so many people are working multiple jobs now just to make ends meet. I know first-hand several people in this category. Does the government count it as 2 jobs "created" even if its only 1 person working both? (i think they do)

There's also the fact (which ties back to inflation) that real wages are down so much that people are forced to take multiple jobs just to pay for things.

Written by Oleg, 17.08.2024 at 02:08

Nice summation and I agree with all the section 2 suggestions. Don't know when I'll get around to implementing any of those (because... time) but hopefully I can at some point.

I really wish Amok & Ivan hadn't offered the lifetime option.... they gained a lot of money off that (so in a sense, I guess it was a good business decision for them) but it's not a sustainable business model. Unfortunately for me the fact that they did and the community got so used to it meant that its very difficult to stop doing now. So I guess we're stuck with it.... but it really should cost more at this point.

For a brief time, when we had the Covid spike, it looked like atWar might have profit potential as a business after all, and I did my best to take advantage of that opportunity... but ultimately it faded away again. So AW returned to the status of "hobby I work on when I have time", where it comfortably remains....

Ever since he dropped out of the re-election campaign, I've been hearing so much glowing praise for Biden and what a "great" President he is. Nancy Pelosi even said he was a "Mt. Rushmore kind of President". What has he done to put himself on par with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt?

Hearing and reading all of this has been so confusing to me, like living in some alternate reality where the things I see with my own eyes and experience in my daily life are the opposite of what I'm being told. Imagine if one day all the TV networks and all the newspapers proclaimed that the sky is green and 1+1=3 -- that's the how I feel watching the coverage about Biden. And then you look around and see half the people out there nodding in agreement as if to say "yes, the sky is green and it's always been green, isn't that great?"

Still, it's enough to make you question your own sanity, even if for just a moment. So after hearing all this praise for Biden and being totally baffled by it, I thought to myself, "am I the one who's wrong? Did he really do great things and I just missed it somehow?"

In this context, I decided to make an honest, good-faith effort to find out what exactly the other side likes so much about this man. I went to the mainstream regime-controlled search engine (i.e. Google) and typed in "Biden accomplishments".

The first search result is something called "The Biden-Harris Record" at whitehouse.gov -- sounds like a pretty official, legit source of information to me. So I click it and find a list of "Top Accomplishments" -- nothing better than getting it directly from the source as to why they think they're so great, right?

The first accomplishment they cite is "Lowering Costs of Families' Everyday Expenses". They even have a fancy-looking infographic for it:

They cite a couple of things like lowering the cost of insulin and capping prescription drugs, blah blah blah. None of those apply to me so I don't know if that's true. All I know for sure is the cost of everything I buy has gone up tremendously -- food, groceries, gasoline, everything cost way more than ever before. I can't be the only one who's noticed this, but they say nothing about it. Am I.... crazy here? Does nobody else go to the grocery store?

2nd accomplishment: "More People Are Working Than At Any Point In American History".... I don't know but I'm going to assume that's true because there are also more people living in this country than at any point in American history. What matters is the percentage of those who want to work who can't find jobs. To this point they claim that unemployment is at the "historically low" rate of 3.5%, but I know this number is misleading because a lot of people who couldn't find work just gave up and stopped looking. Especially after the pandemic. A lot of people have ended up doing some combination of side hustles or working under the table, or just not working at all and living off others. I'm not an economist so I can't give you an estimate, but I'm pretty sure just from what I've seen that there are a LOT of people without jobs who just aren't being counted as unemployed anymore.

3rd accomplishment: "Making More in America" -- claims companies have "announced nearly $300 billion in manufacturing investments in the United States." I don't know anything about this so I'll pass on it, except to note that just because an investment has been announced does not mean it has actually occurred yet, nor does it mean those companies can't still change their minds. No exact numbers are given for how many new factories were built or how many actual jobs were created, so I view this claim with skepticism.

4th accomplishment: "Rescued the Economy and Changed the Course of the Pandemic" -- I call bullshit on that. Trump had already turned the economy around before he left office, in the sense that it was already starting to recover. Biden then comes towards the end of that and wants to take credit for the whole thing? Anyone who was paying attention at the time would know it was Trump who instituted several rounds of economic stimulus plans (whether you agree with his policies or not). Biden walked into office and literally didn't have to do anything but continue Trump's existing policies. (Although in other ways Biden made things considerably worse, primarily with his anti-drilling, anti-energy policies that quickly made the price of gas skyrocket and in large part triggered the massive inflation problem, which had not been a problem during the Trump years.)

5th accomplishment: "Rebuilding our Infrastructure" -- I agree with the need to rebuild our infrastructure, but I have not seen any progress made in the last 4 years. Maybe I'm wrong and Biden has built a ton of stuff somewhere else in the country, but where I live and work I haven't seen a damn thing.

6th accomplishment: "Historic Expansion of Benefits and Services for Toxic Exposed Veterans" -- I'm not a veteran so I don't know if this is true. I certainly hope it is and that we are taking care of our vets.

7th accomplishment: "The First Meaningful Gun Violence Reduction Legislation in 30 Years" -- I'm sorry but you can't reduce gun violence by legislation. You reduce gun violence by putting violent people in prison and keeping them there. You reduce gun violence by putting mentally ill people in hospitals and keeping them there. Show me the numbers for how much gun crimes have gone up or down since Biden's legislation, then we'll talk (since they don't tell you, I'm betting it hasn't gone down....)

8th accomplishment: "Protected Marriage for LGBTQI+ and Interracial Couples" -- okay fine. I thought that gay marriage already became a thing under Obama... I'm not sure what exactly Biden felt needed additional protection, but sure whatever.

9th accomplishment: "Historic Confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and Federal Judges of Diverse Backgrounds" -- in other words, we choose judges now primarily on the basis of their sex and/or skin color (isn't that the definition of racism?), rather than that silly old way we used to pick judges where we hired the most experienced, most qualified person regardless of what they looked like. DEI hires doesn't seem like a step forward to me. (What ever happened to MLK's line about judging people not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character?)

10th accomplishment: "Rallied the World to Support Ukraine in Response to Putin's Aggression". This is a big topic but the short version is this: 1) it's pretty clear the U.S. had a definite role in provoking the war (you can debate what our motives were). 2) we've sent a LOT of money over to Ukraine, money that we could have better spent on our own people and problems. 3) A LOT of Ukrainians (and Russians too) are now dead while the war still goes on.

None of that sounds like a win to me.

11th accomplishment: "Strengthened Alliances and Partnerships to Deliver for the American People" -- mostly he's talking about strengthening NATO, which seems like more of a benefit to everyone else in NATO than to Americans. If China or Russia invaded the US tomorrow (not likely but just for sake of argument), I really don't see Finland or Sweden coming to save us. More likely the other way around.

12th accomplishment: "Successful Counterterrorism Missions Against the Leaders of Al Qaeda and ISIS" -- okay sure, killing terrorists is good, so I'll give Biden the win on this one. Then again, he did leave what, $80 billion-some-odd of military equipment behind in Afghanistan, which I'm pretty sure isn't going to any good guys....

13th accomplishment: "Executive Orders Protecting Reproductive Rights" -- I'll have to disagree on this one since I see abortion as morally wrong (with maybe a few very limited exceptions). But sure some people (not me) might see this as a win.

14th accomplishment: "Historic Student Debt Relief for Middle and Working Families" -- this pisses me off. I was such a dummy, I actually worked and paid my own way through college. If I had known that Biden would come a long 20 years later and just cancel those debts, why did I bother working so hard? This is a blatant attempt to buy the young college vote of today, but it's a slap in the face to those of us in the previous generation who worked so hard.

15th accomplishment: "Ending our Failed Approach to Marijuana" -- I've never used Marijuana and never will, so this is not particularly important to me, but as a libertarian-minded person I suppose in principle that Marijuana should be legalized everywhere. So that's fine and all.... but I do find the irony amusing that Harris, back when she was a DA, put so many people in prison for minor marijuana possession. I bet she doesn't want to mention that now!

16th accomplishment: "Advancing Equity and Racial Justice, Including Historic Criminal Justice Reform" -- all I know is that racial tensions/divides have gotten worse during Biden's time, not better. I'm really not sure what Biden thinks he did to make it "better".

17th accomplishment: "Delivering on the Most Aggressive Climate and Environmental Justice Agenda in American History" -- sounds like destroying our economy for no concrete benefit to the environment. Sounds like the environmentalists, the solar panel manufacturers, the wind turbine manufacturers, and who-knows who else are getting rich in the name of "saving the environment". I love the outdoors and I want clean air, clean water, etc... who wouldn't? But telling us all to drive electric cars and paying for carbon offsets doesn't seem like the answer.

18th accomplishment: "More People with Health Insurance than Ever Before" -- again there are also more people living in America than ever before... has the percentage changed? All I know is that health insurance is fucking expensive, and gets more and more expensive every year. And the coverage is shitty. My wife has actually started getting healthcare internationally because it's cheaper and the quality of service is better. The U.S. healthcare system is totally fucked -- not an accomplishment to be proud of.

So there you have it, direct from the source what Biden thinks are his greatest accomplishments. I'm sorry, I don't see any greatness here. I see a lot of bullshit, lies, and even if I give him 1 or 2 technical "wins" they are to do with issues that are really not that important in the grand scheme of things. What I see (and what's important to me) is that our economy is a total disaster and on the verge of collapse. I see a country that is no longer respected abroad. I see millions of people entering this country illegally with no vetting whatsoever. I was awake and paying attention between 2016-2020 and I remember things were so much better, not that long ago!

Tell me... what am I missing here?

16.08.2024 in Why does Atwar die?
Written by Phoenix, 16.08.2024 at 02:34

The real reason is that a lot of people came here to play a competitive game and the rank and clan war system was what the vast majority of players were here for in 2014/15 when the game started. But there was no emphasis on expanding the competitive scene or nursing it and making rules or a solid ranked system. These elements were not nurtured early on because ivan and Amok wanted to sell it very early on... they outsourced a lot of responsibility to mods (free) and made sun tzu an admin as the game was failing which was a poor choice and he made some weird decisions while also having his hands tied with regards to things that mattered. So over time people got bored and left. Since 2016/2017 RP was bigger but the game was already dying... player retention was poor and those in charge never appreciated this... in 2020/21 Dave was the owner and he had a disagreement with the core of the old comp community... we're talking about the few guys left that loved comp games and caused a few of us to come back and continue playing comp during covid. Then one day he banned some of those players and a lot of the remaining guys deleted their accounts in protest.... AW was already dying with the player base dwindling. But alienating the core player base that made clans relevent was what killed it. There use to be guys who played this game like a sport... opi, laochra, eagles, mauzer, commando, soldier001, creyente, Clovis and these are just some of those guys that the community looked up to... theres a history to this game most of you will never know. To get a glimpse of what it was all you need to do is search players by elo...

In my opinion (and I think I've said this before) the "comp community" is just not that important. When I researched this in detail a couple years ago, I found that the comp community is very vocal but very small part of atWar. The vast majority of our users was, and still is, first-timers and random users passing through. However atWar has an incredibly low retention rate, so few of those stick around.

I don't think getting rid of a few obnoxious players rises to the level of "alientating [a] core player base", and I don't think those few's "loss" has impacted our numbers in any significant way. Sure they made a lot of noise about it, but that was all it was -- noise. If you look at the numbers it's been one long continuous decline (except for a brief spike during Covid) from at least 2017 until now, and nothing I've done has been able to change that one way or the other.

If I were to pick the one thing that would help atWar the most, it would be an AI to play against. First-timers don't have the patience to wait for games to fill, or else they get into games with players who grossly outmatch them and get killed instantly. Either way that's no fun, so no wonder people leave. An AI player would completely solve this problem and allow people to get into the game more easily.

I find it amusing that in the poll above people voted for "no marketing". Those people must be completely unaware of the literally thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours we spent marketing the game, to no avail. Sure we got more raw traffic, but the retention just wasn't there, same as now. It was a tremendous waste of time and money, and will always be a waste unless/until something fundamental changes about the game (like the addition of an AI).

Oh well. We can still reboot atWar someday if/when time & money become more abundant for such an overhaul. Until then, it is what it is.

The Visionary Leadership of Amok and Ivan

The illustrious Amok and Ivan, true visionaries from Estonia, are poised to bring their innovative spirit and adaptability to the highest office. Did you know that during their reign, atWar servers were hosted in none other than Kenya? Yes, you heard that right! This bold move showcased their exceptional ability to think outside the box, maintaining peak performance even in the face of adversity. Their global perspective and ability to optimize under any circumstances make them the perfect candidates to lead a nation into a bright, interconnected future.

Fake news! They were hosted in Somalia until Djiboutian pirates co operated with Waffel to take them down.

Harris: Now is the time for leaders who understand the importance of leading, because importance is important, and we need leaders who understand the importance of importance...
Trump: I...
Harris: Excuse me, I'm speaking. As I was saying, this is an important time for leaders to lead by leading because that's what leaders do, when the time is a time of importance, like the present time.

This popped up on my radar and it made me think of your post which I had seen earlier:
https://x.com/RebelNewsOnline/status/1813397407000043955

The same thing has been going on in the US with the Biden Administration bussing and/or flying illegal immigrants from the border area into the interior of our country.

I think its yet another manifestation of the "woke mind virus".... "oh these immigrants are so poor we must help them at all costs", even if it means the destruction of our own culture. People who truly believe in this stuff maybe even WANT the destruction of our own culture because of historical transgressions that we can never (apparently) make up for nor move on from. Or they cleverly try to sidestep the fact that we even have a culture worth saving by saying "America is a culture of immigrants", as if all our culture came from somewhere else and we've created nothing unique of our own.

I don't fault immigrants for wanting a better life for themselves, and helping them as much as we can is a noble thing to do. What's missing these days is that preserving our culture is important too. That's why there used to be sensible limits on how many immigrants we take in... you don't just open the floodgates and thereby transform your country into something else. But for political purposes that's exactly what the people running our country are trying to do... transform us into something else. (Obama said it himself that he wanted to "fundamentally tranform" our country... and here we see the results.)

Ireland is a beautiful country with lovely people and a culture worth preserving and I certainly hope you do... glad to see some Irish are starting to stand up for themselves.

Praying that President Trump is okay. This is the only man who can save our country.

Man leave politics out of here

It's the off-topic forum, lots of people talk politics here. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it.

My personal opinion is not atWar's official opinion. I'm not "here as an admin"... I'm here as an ordinary person posting in offtopic.

atWar the company is neutral and does not get involved in politics.

And there is no war in Ukraine, just a special military operation, Russia is not an aggressor it is in fact an innocent defender who didndu nuffin wrong ever, and it has accomplished all of its goals, thank you very much.
You are posting from The Admin account of this game, pinning/promoting the topics (they are the first thing you see on the main page marked as important).
Nice try though.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but you are the admin. As I said, I don't like the mainstream media myself. If the BBC, CNN, FoxNews of the world suffer and burn down maybe something better would rise from the ashes.

Elon Musk endorsed President Trump on X. Elon Musk. Not X. Not Tesla. Not SpaceX. Just Elon. People are people, not their jobs.

Likewise I've always felt free to talk politics in my personal capacity on atWar, and will continue to do so. My personal right to freedom of speech does not end because coincidentally I happen to be an admin here. I don't use any special privileges for my personal posts -- anybody can promote a post and it will appear on the homepage, that's nothing unique to me.

I'm sorry you are unable to understand the difference between a personal post and an official post, but they really are separate things and I do hope you figure that out someday.

P.S. I don't understand what Ukraine has to do with this conversation at all.

I would preferred if you wouldn't insert your politics into my games. I know it is important, you care, I agree with the sentiment but I hate when politics are being mixed with my escapism and entertainment. As an admin I think you shouldn't take sides.

Tech jobs can't be your marker for the entire economy. Half of Americans don't even have a college degree.

It's not the only marker. I also own a business totally outside of the tech industry and it's hurting because people just don't have the money to spend like they used to.

In my life I don't know a single person who's better off now than they were 4 years ago, financially speaking.
