Game data got corrupted somehow, I don't recall it happening before. Fixed by simply reloading it.

Fixed now, sorry about this. Still not sure what happened, but fixed simply by reloading data.

I have noticed a bug while using other languages. In this case that bug happens with french and italian.
The Problem is that if you click on New Map there should appear a window that ask you "Enter Map Editor ?".
While using french or italian nothing will happen if you click on the button. One fix is to change the language to english.

I took a closer look at the html and found out why.
french:

italian:


If you remove it or mask the marked sign with a it works.
Gonna test the other languages later.

Fixed, thanks! Let me know if encounter similar instances with confirmation dialogs.

If you want to help atwar, you need to help code for it. Amok/Ivan have full time jobs which take up much of their time, and Clovis is the only player helping them code. If you or anyone else experienced in whatever coding language(s) Amok/Ivan programmed this website with, reach out to Amok/Ivan and ask to join their team. They have a very small team, and can't fix every issue there is with their limited time. Join their team, and you can fix the bugs, while also getting admin as a side benefit

I have reached out to both Amok and Ivan in the past. As a student of Computer Science finishing their associate's degree next week and starting on a bachelor's next semester I believe I could be of some help if only given the chance. My studies so far have been focused on object oriented languages (primarily Java, with some experience in C++), but I also live with two professional web programmers who would be happy to teach/work with me on a project. I'm offering my help for free, the only cost to the developers would be time spent filling me in on the project (how version control is being run/ how the ticket manager is organized). I've enjoyed AtWar for years, and would love to help in any way I can. If anyone wants to help me relay my message to AtWar staff, I'd be very appreciative.

Well, that was sad read, if completely deserved. I might not show up here often, but I do think about atWar pretty much every day, and everything that needs to be done and could be improved. We should probably admit that there's no possibility for us to move ahead without outside help, as our circumstances are now very different from the time when most of the game development has been done. We'll see if we can get get some volunteers and hopefully take care of the lingering issues.

This is a question to all admins, where do u work? and did u use at-war as a portfolio to help u in the recruitment process of ur now jobs? Last question, im an IT student who will graduates this year and i really like to work with DataBases in general. So do u recommend this path of IT?

I work (currently remotely) for a small UK company that does online cognitive/psychological evaluations for corporate HR. And yes, atWar was part of my portfolio
I would definitely recommend the IT path, it worked wonders for me. Especially the back end stuff (like databases) seems to be in high demand almost anywhere.

I know this isn't really the place but it's a serious question for me. Previously we could tell when we where zooming past in game zoom, because the map editor would notify us, that seems to be missing in the new editor aswell we can't zoom as far as we used to be able to in the editor, both of these things are very important when making maps, and I was wondering if your aware of this, and if it will be fixed soon.

Wasn't aware of this, thanks for mentioning.

Every time I try to edit my maps on the website it says the editor is a "Preview version" and I can't save it. Please help.

Maps created in the Silverlight editor can only be edited there for now. Only new maps can be edited in the HTML5 editor.

It IS a new map. So, does that mean the map editor utilized on the website is the HTML5 editor, and the SilverLight editor is the downloaded version for Windows? I was never EVER able to save my maps on the website editor before (It said it was a preview version, and wouldn't let me save) regardless of SL or HTML5, and since a few months ago, I was never able to load my maps on the downloaded client.

If you're seeing the "Preview version" message and cannot save maps, that means you need to clear you cache.

What made your stay in Athens not that pleasant? Was it the people? The prices or something like dirty areas and not clean squares?

The centre was very seedy, dirty and rundown. Saw people doing drugs on the street. Got scammed for 10 EUR. The area immediately around the Acropolis was alright though.

Have you ever been to Greece? If yes, what city/place and why if allowed.

I've been to Xanthi, Thessaloniki, Mt Olympus (didn't climb though), Athens, Santorini. All were pretty nice except Athens, which I didn't like so much. The north was during my backpacking trip through eastern Europe, the south was for brother-in-law's wedding (on Santorini).

When will we get new strategies?

It's not easy to come up with new strategies that are unique enough to justify adding them. The current bunch covers pretty much all of the available mechanics. There are two experimental ones in the works, but so far they failed the mod review and need to be retooled or scrapped.

When you intend taking a look in some in game mechanic bugs?

Previously we had a situation where most bugs couldn't be addressed until the editor was released, because the code was all mixed together. In fact, some of the bugs were already fixed (movement bug), but couldn't be released. Now we won't have to worry about that, so the long standing issues can now be attended to.

Busy. Work, family. No big updates are planned, but we'll try to keep things alive and slowly improve things and add smaller new features. Going to be easier now that the elephant in the room (the editor!) is finally gone.
