Taking the example of softwares made by Autodesk, implementing commands to the editor would add a lot of practicality. I've made up this list of basic commands that would be great to use.

    Map editor
  • GROUP (turns selected borders into one single entity)
  • UNGROUP (dismantles selected group)
  • OVERKILL (deletes all overlapping borders that aren't a group)
  • INCOME (shows a window with the income values of all countries)
  • REINCOME (resets income values from all cities back to the standard "11")
  • CLEAN (deletes only clustered vertices around the map)
  • NOGO (turns selected groups into no-go zones)
  • REGION (turns selected no-go zones into countries)
  • ATEXT:? (adjusts the size of all country titles, where "?" is the desired size)
  • ENCLAVE (creates an squared enclave with a click on the desired point)
  • MERGE (merge overlapping borders of two selected groups, turning it into a single entity)
  • PURGE (deletes isolated countries/groups)
  • LOCK (locks selected groups into their current positions, they can't be moved nor edited)
  • UNLOCK (unlocks selected groups)
  • TEXTFIT (move all titles back to the center of its country)

    Scenario
  • TRANSC:? (adjusts the transparency of all player's colours)
  • DEACTIVATE (deactivates all selected country groups)
  • ACTIVATE (activates all selected country groups)
  • SETFUNDS:? (changes the starting funds of all players, where "?" is the desired value)

AutoDesk is like some of the best architectural software that exist. Nice but complicated suggestion.

The commands is the tool that makes their softwares "simple". I doubt this suggestion will be considered, It would probably need an entire new editor.

You're totally right, the shortcuts are what makes designing easy. But, those shortcuts will be difficult to make, I expect.

I love the suggestion. I use AutoCAD every day and the commands are 90% of what I do in the software. If something like this was added, then we'd see a renaissance in map-making on atWar.
Unfortunately, development is currently slow and we won't see anything like that for maybe years to come. I think Dave should open up to investors for capital (to be put back into the game for development).

As far as I'm aware, all staff (but Dave) are not being paid, if we want development, we'll have to get our cheque books out.

Same, I'm an architecture student.
