Why do you play wargames? What exactly you like about them? What game had the most significant effect on you and your emotional ties to your character(s)? In other words what wargame really had you caring about the pretend soldier or men? (emotional ties) You know the ones you really hated to lose? Why are war games fun to play?

For me the strongest emotional ties to heroes are from Panzer Command and Combat Mission games, X-Com. War games are a way to relieve stress and to train some skills.

War games = strategy games. Unless the strategy game is something like Clash of Clans

i play atwar for lots of reasons - when atwar was based on actual GDP figures and maps , i kind of viewed it as a commercial/political simulation of the world, which was interesting.

Cultures had the deepest 'impact' in character attachment. 'Characters' needed you to promote marriages and work on intimacy in order to grow your population. There's also something about 'naming' your character that creates an immediate 'attachment' to them. Things got even deeper with training, watching them get stronger, improving their skills - by the time they got around to fighting, you really didn't want to lose them given all you had done for them. Having zero deaths in a battle became a side goal.

I feel badass.

You feel badass while gaming? This is something I never thought about. When I play I always believe that I'm the best player, this attitude helped me a couple of times.
