Questions
- Where can I find a complete, exhaustive source on battle mechanics (combat resolution, 2 or more players attack each other etc.)?

- For the most basic battle, one set of the same kind of units (e.g. tanks) attacking a different set of the same kind of units (e.g. militia) is the battle resolved in the following manner?

- If not, why not, and source?

Scenario:
- 3 Tanks with a max (attack) damage of 8, HP 7, Critical 5, Attack 3 Militia with a max (defense) damage of 4, HP 7, Critical 5
- The Militia didn't move at all this turn and this is a clear attack.
- There are no bonuses/upgrades/strategies etc.

Round 1: Tank T1 has 7 HP. Militia M1 had 7 HP
1.1 Tank T1 attacks Militia M1 with a potential of 1-8 regular damage, and a 5% potential for Critical damage of 8.
If so the outcome is (e.g.) 5 damage (no critical)
1.2 Militia M1 defends Tank T1 with a potential of 1-4 regular damage, and a 5% potential for Critical damage of 4.
If so the outcome is (e.g.) 2 damage (no critical)
1.3 Tank T1 now has 5 HP remaining.
1.4 Militia M1 now has 2 HP remaining
1.5 Round 2 begins

Round 2: T1 has 5 HP and M1 has 2 HP
2.1 T1 attacks M1 with 1 damage.
2.2 M1 defends T1 with 3 regular damage and scores a critical hit for 4 damage, for a total of 7 damage.
2.3 T1 now has -2 HP and is dead. 2 damage done by M1 is applied to T2 before the next round begins.
2.4 M1 has 1 HP remaining
2.5 Round 3 begins.

Round 3: T2 has 5 HP and M1 has 1 HP
2.1 T2 attacks M1 with 8 damage.
2.2 M1 defends T2 with 3 damage.
2.3 T2 now has 2 HP.
2.4 M1 now has -7 HP and is dead. This damage is applied to M2 who dies before the next round begins and is also dead. M2 has no opportunity to do any damage to T2.
2.5 Round 4 begins

Round 4: T2 has 2 HP and M3 has 7 HP
2.1 T2 attacks M3 with 5 damage.
2.2 M3 attacks T2 with 4 damage.
2.3 T2 now has -3 HP and is dead. 3 damage is applied to T3 before the next round begins.
2.4 M3 now has 4 HP remaining.
2.5 Round 5 begins.

Round 5: T3 has 4 HP and M3 has 4 HP
2.1 T3 attacks M3 with 7 damage.
2.2 M2 defends T3 with 4 damage.
2.3 T3 has 0 HP and is dead.
2.4 M3 now has -3 damage and is dead.
2.5 Battle is over with both sides annihilating each other.

Is this (^) proper battle mechanics (special attention to 2.4) for the most basic type of Battle?
If so, I'll move to the next level of complexity.
If not, let me know what's wrong, so I may correct my understanding *then* move to the next question.

Poor M2, he didn't even have a chance to fight ;_;
Hmm everything was fine, but here:
Round 4: T2 has 2 HP and M3 has 7 HP
2.1 T2 attacks M3 with 5 damage.
2.2 M3 attacks T2 with 4 damage.
2.3 T2 now has -3 HP and is dead. 3 damage is applied to T3 before the next round begins.
2.4 M3 now has 4 HP remaining.
2.5 Round 5 begins.
T2 did 5 damage, meaning M3 has 2HP remaining, not 4.
Also, M3 did 5 damage, meaning T2 has -2HP not -3.

Therefore,
Round 5: T3 has 5 HP and M3 has 2 HP
2.1 T3 attacks M3 with 7 damage.
2.2 M2 defends T3 with 4 damage.
2.3 T3 has 1 HP and is dead.
2.4 M3 now has -3 damage and is dead.
2.5 Battle is over, tanks win.

Tanks won by 1HP
By the way, I hope you just picked the rolls randomly xD 2 Tanks BARELY even fail against Militias.
OH, and not to mention that militias has 0 crit meaning thay can't do crits. Militias did a crit in this battle.

That's it, if I'm wrong correct me because sometimes I'm so dumb at basic calcs

Thank you! The results were anything but random. I selected the results specifically to find out if a unit killed outright by splash/spillover damage does not damage the enemy. No programming, I just did this by hand to be sure that this was the flow.

Sorry for the error in my example, and I shall proceed to my next question.
Thanks again!
