This probably won't have much use in the competitive scene, but I think having railroads might be fun in a world map.

The idea is simple; You create the railroad piece in your cities and attach them together just like building walls. Then you can send troops and tanks to the start of the railroad, load them on, (10 starting max capacity) then they automatically go to the end of the railroad. So in those big world games where it's hard to move and manage troops, you can essentially have your troops on autopilot moving toward the big battle. This also opens up room for more upgrades. Safer Trains, Train capacity, Faster Trains, exc.

I think it might be a fun addition.

How to make a railroad / train:
  • Make a canal
  • Set on each endpoints (and intermediary points if wished) a city (defined as port)
  • Create naval:other unit that can carry troops and travel far (range) Ofc. this unit can only be built in cities linked to the canal(-system).
  • Choose whether the train is "only" unit transport type (defense like any other transport unit) or if it is a war train that has firing power (higher defense).

There you have your rail/train! What else?
But what if the players want it somewhere else? This idea can easily fix.

Tell me a (real existing) train that can go anywhere!
Trains can always "just" go where the rails allow. Right?
So, what you are basically asking is that there is an option to build a railway-network. Right?
So, basically, we could also ask for the possibility to build any other infrastructure... like cities, for example. This is quite complicated, I guess.
The only option, considering trains (not railways) as units, and keeping the realism, that they are bound to certain routes, is the option described above.... or just create a terrestrial transport unit (but that will be capable of traveling across the complete pampa... am I wrong?

Construction of railways? No support.

Trains are known to go around mountains, and other terrain. Thing's are okay.

Or the map maker can draw certain places where the rails can be built.
