Will it become possible to upload png pictures not just jpg?

I know that feel. The background of my avatar in my posts sometimes looks like it's transparent because I actually used a colour picker and pasted the black-ish colour of the forums as the background.

However, the forums use alternating colours for each post so I'm pretty buggered when it comes to that! I also recall being pissed off with the scenario editor as it would only accept JPGs and I had to convert 20 or so pictures. Sure, I batch converted them but it would be annoying for people who cannot do that to spend 30 minutes opening and saving each one in their image editor.
