NOTE: All this advice is for 3v3, if you are looking for 1v1 advice this post will not help.

OK, Pr me if u see me online and I will help. France ( and every country) have many different expansions that are equally good and it is mainly about not doing ths same thing every time. France is very flexible and usually just tries to surprise their opponent. Things to note: Walls are your friend. France would be very much screwed, more than any other country if they couldnt make walls imo. Make it hard for spain to take your cities, all the while breaking spain's walls and taking his countries. Ususally I prefer to let spain take italy, but every once and a while you want to do a full ialy rush. This will keep your opponent guessing the first turn about what your idea is. If germany is the enemy, then you will survive much longer on average. This is because germany has a much harder time rushing paris than UK does. Make sure to constantly be breaking and wf spanish walls and sending money to east.


Now, some concrete ideas i can give you: Wall paris, lyon, nantes and bordeaux. These are you most important cities. NOTE: marseille is also very important, but i prefer just to stack it rather than wall it. Sea walls: There are many different types of sea walls that you can do. Either spain will have to wf all of them, not wf any of them, or take guesses as to which wall u will do. The point of a sea wall is to trap spanish units on the italian peninsula and give you time to take spanish cities without opposition.
Taking switzereland is a good option, because it gives good income. Stealing Ireland from UK (if uk is an enemy) is good because it allows you to put pressure on uk cities and break london so germany doesnt have to. Portugal is another good thing to steal, because of its geographical location, within range of madrid.

Same as what checkmate said above, but;
for 1v1 do NOT choose france,until you're more experienced. there are a lot of better countries to choose from...Germany, UK, Turkey, Ukraine being the main (for mid ranks without most of the upgrades)
same for 2v2

for 3v3, france is a supporting country meaning it funds, and helps in berlin rushes with UK ally, or london rushes with germany ally. It holds off spain, and if you don't have the critical infantry upgrades, you can't cap spain. Turn 1, make a sea wall and trap spain's main stack in italy. (i prefer making a double layered wall so that the units are trapped there for 2 turns)
turn 1 after the wall: break his walls. break every wall you can see, and reach. seawall 1 is now broken by him.
turn 2 after the wall jew (capture) his ports. barcelona and the nothern port are important (i forget the name). sea wall 2 is now broken by him, and he's probably using italian units to push you on your eastern front which is why I wall each and every french city including marseilles. I don't take belgium because if UK rushes there, I'll lose 4 infantry. that 4 infantry france can't afford to lose turn 1. It can expand only the low reinforcement countries, meaning your main source of reinforcements is france itself. so keep a hold of lyon, bordeaux and obviously paris as your main priorities.

DO NOT TRY TO RUSH ROME UNLESS YOU HAVE FASTER INFANTRY+GENERAL RANGE UPGRADES. It'll be an incomplete rush, and you could lose. Best to do a rome rush with a UK and Turkey ally. Because if turkey attacks rome, along with you and Spain, even if you win the battle, its gg within the next 4-5 turns for you. losing that many units will hurt you badly.
UK will punish you very hard if he's an enemy and you do a rome rush. So rush rome with UK and Turkish allies ideally.
Remember to fund (Ukraine or Turkey) and choose a defensive strategy. PD goes anywhere, IF to dig in and resist, and PD or NC to rush Rome.
