I need to buy more games /aw/! What are some good ones? I'm into most kinds of games, but I don't usually enjoy long, pointless RPGs (Like most Final Fantasy games; even though I love them, but I don't like playing them often). I really enjoy open-world games with weird or surreal styles, like [Prototype] and Fallout. Also, don't recommend games that are impossible to buy anymore. So, you can recommend any games on the platforms below, also tell me how much it would usually be, how long it is, what it's about (no spoilers), and rate it 1-5. Also, if you can, provide a Boxshot or screenshots. I currently own these platforms, so i can play anything on them:
  • XBox (original)
  • XBox 360
  • Wii (Gamecube)
  • Dreamcast
  • PS one
  • PS2
  • PC (obviously)
  • 3DS
  • Droid
  • GB (GBA SP)

So you can recommend any games on these systems, just remember what I said above though. Also, I've been looking at Tribes: Ascend, and NeverDead, are they any good? Thanks in advance!

     YOBA
    XBOX
    • Mother fucking Jet Set Radio, which is one of my favourite games of all time. It is not a sports game mind you, more towards action and skill. Really amazing, 5/5 game.
    • (don't get Halo for it as it's been ported to the 360)
    • Splinter Cell.

    XBOX 360
    • Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires (if you haven't played DW yet, this is the one to get). And trust me when I say this, you will only ever play one DW game because they're always the same, but they're still awesome dammit.
    • All the Halos. They're YOBA, but still outstanding and very fun.
    • Assassin's Creed. All of them, maybe except the first because it's a grindfest.
    • The latest FIFA, you can control the ball with the right thumbstick and the tricks just happen. Really amazing technology and it just gets better and better.
    • Gears of War.
    • Kong 360:Gorilla Warfare (an awesome XBLA game)
    • Battlefield 3 (because no-one can run that beast on PC)
    • Fable II (but not III, that's crap)
    • Trials HD on XBLA, it's like those Flash motocross games that used to litter the internet but with a level creator, a scoreboard, and 3D graphics. All in all: fap fap fap.
    • Batman:Arkham Asylum and Arkham City
    • I hate to say this, but yes, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Because it's fun, however mainstream and unutterably YOBA it is
    • Bionic Commando: Rearmed (XBLA) is awesome. It is hard to explain, kind of like a platformer and a shooter at the same time. It has a grappling hook and handles amazingly, with cool physics and stuff. Enough said--get it!
    • Bioshock 1 & 2 (they can be grindfests if you don't follow the story though, only get them if you care about storyline)
    • Geometry Wars 2 (this is NOT what you think, I swear, it is actually an awesome shooter approaching the bullet hell genre, think of it as Asteroids on crack).
    • N+ (XBLA), a platformer ninja game... LOL, it's like a famous Flash game called N, try that and you'll be convinced.
    • Castle Crashers (XBLA)--I haven't played it but it's made by NG dammit so it must be good! And indeed, it was very critically acclaimed.
    • Super Meat Boy (XBLA)--simply the best, hard as nails but hilarious and addictive. There's a Flash game you can try. TL;DR, the bad guy is named Dr Fetus, get it.

    Wii (I don't have this)
    • All the Zelda games.
    • I've heard House of the Dead is really fun to play with friends.
    • Super Mario Kart Wii
    • Super Smash Brothers Brawl!

Gamecube (I don't have this, but I've played on one a lot)
    • Star Fox (both of them) fapfapfap
    • Zelda, both Four Swords and the cartoony one
    • Resident Evil 4, apparently the best version is on this console.

    Dreamcast (I don't have this)
    • The 3D Sonic game was apparently the only decent 3D Sonic game that ever got released if you're into that.
    • (check the PC segment)

PSOne (I don't have this, but I've played on one an awful, awful lot)
    • Metal Gear Solid (even Aristosseur likes this and he hates non-autistic games)
    • Crash Bandicoot (ALL OF THEM)
    • Crash Team Racing (we still play it at our Sixth Form, best game to play with friends EVER)
    • I never much liked Final Fantasy, but I guess a lot of people do. Final Fantasy VII is easily the most well-known one and even I know of Cloud and Sephiroth and the death of that girl that apparently moved people to tears. FFIX is said to be the best though.
    • Chrono Cross (obscure, but the best RPG of ALL TIME)
    • Syphon Filter

PlayStation 2 (I don't have this, but I've played on one a lot)
    • Metal Gear Solid, again. I'd stay away from MGS2 because it's just too friggin' weird. MGS3 is arguably the best in the series though, because of the ever-brilliant gameplay and because the story takes places some 45 years before MGS1, so the story isn't a complete mindfuck.
    • Final Fantasy, again, but not the kind of thing for me. Too much melodrama and cheesiness.
    • Everyone loves Kingdom Hearts for some reason but it just seems like another FF to me.

    PC
Too many to list, I'll post them tomorrow if I don't get horribly distracted as I always do.

3DS (I have ye olde DS Lite)
    • Zelda
    • The Ace Attorney games (only the ones with Phoenix Wright though, the other guy is not as cool).
    • POKEMON!
    • Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, one of a handful of RTSs with RPG elements and one of the finest games on the DS as a whole, though once you finish you won't play it again (will take like 40 hours though).
    • Star Fox Command (best for Wi-Fi, but the campaigns are fun if a tad repetitive)
    • Super Mario Kart DS, simply the best for any bus journey.
    • New Super Mario Bros, the best game on the platform, period.
    • Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
    • Advance Wars: Dual Strike (if you like Afterwind this is for you)
    • Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (my m8 LOVES this, lots of gameplay and it seems fun but hard)
    • Harvest Moon!!!! (warning: this will ruin your social life)

(An?)Droid (I have a shitty HTC Wildfire, the weakest-performing of all, which can barely run any games at all.)
    • Draw Something (really fun)
    • Galaxy (a puzzle game of sorts, very fun)
    • Jewels (Bejeweled rip-off)
    • Chess.
    • Shoot Bubble Deluxe, Bubble Shoot, Frozen Bubble, et al.
    • Ice Breaker 2 (a bit like Breakout).
    • Gold Miner.

    GameBoyAdvance SP
    • Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, which is the game that got me to love Zelda. Still can't find those last 6 Kingstone pieces. The best 2D one of the lot, no arguing about it. And horribly under-appreciated, too. -.-
    • F-Zero GX
    • Pokemon!

WoW? Never! I will never play that game for fear of me getting addicted to that too lol. I'm not a big Football fan, but I've never played Fifa, but apparently it's good, so i'll check Steam and OnLive for it. Pokémon? C'mon man, do you really think I haven't played those games for hours upon hours? My username is only the best one afterall
Star Wars? Which one? The new Kinect one is a mediocre piece of trash, so I hope you mean some of the better ones like Bounty Hunter or Lego :3
Age of Empires huh? I was so sure nobody would mention that here...but alas, I was wrong. I've played one of them extensively, quite good. I believe it was either the first or the second, been a while. Counter-strike is an amazing Half-Life spin-off, played that for hours a long time ago. Red Alert is my favorite strategy series! Red Alert 3 especially, playing with 2 buddies on XBL and just make a huge Military city on a coastal map is one of the best experiences i've ever had ^_^

  • My god Yoba, that was a HUGE post!
Alright, so let's get to this HUGE reply! Jet Set Radio. My god, I want to play this game, but my local gamestore never has it I'll order it off Amzon some day though. Halo. Yoba. I am the biggest Halo nerd the universe has ever laid eyes on, telling me to get the remake over the original is a no-no, besides the fact i've layed each and every one of them a million times for more hours than I can ever imagine (Basically, if anyone plays Halo and wants to play some, PM me, I simply love the game more than almost anything). Splinter cell was amazing, although I prefer Ghost Recon for Tom Clancy games. The gameplay was amazing when I first played it, and it left a sense of satisfaction upon finishing. Assassin's Creed (the original) is the only one I've played. I hated it the first time I played it, but now I think i'll replay it. Gears of War is easily my second favorite XBox exclusive
I've never liked Battlefield other than Bad company (Another game i'll play for hours with anyone, amazing game), but from what I've heard, B3 is pretty good. I've never played any Fable games, but I plan on purchasing the original on my next outing to the mall (Gotta pick $100 worth of games every time ). I will admit it, Modern warfare was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a game, mostly MW2. I haven't played MW3 that much, since all of my old XBox friends moved on or in a few cases, An hero'd. So sadly I can't enjoy CoD that much anymore, simply because none of my friends own it. Okay, I will get flamed for this, but I simply cannot stand Zelda games. My uncle recently purchased Ocarina of time for me, and as much as I enjoyed it, it quickly lost it's luster after seeing how primitive and short it really was. I like games that take a lot of time to play, and aren't too simple, Zelda is just way too simple. Although I heard Majora's mask is much harder, so i'll have to pick that up. Mario Kart = My only childhood memory of doing anything fun with my parents. SSBB is really good, but i'm not big on fighting games. Some people (Like Gardevoir, different Gardevoir, not me) play the fuck out of that game, and always complain about simple mistakes on nintendo's part. Those mistakes are there because it's aimed at a younger audience etc, so you shouldn't rant. Metal Gear solid I've never played, but I've looked for a copy of the original for forever. Soon, I will claim it!

A really good game for gamecube that is not as well known as it should be is "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem". It's one of the best horror games ever. Also for the gamecube, "Metroid Prime" is one of my favourite games of all time. For playstation I recommend Any "Metal Gear" game or the first couple "Resident Evil games" (the hilarious voice acting alone makes it worth it ). For Wii I would check out "No More Heroes", it's got an open world and it's just so batshit crazy that it's awesome .

This doesn't really say anything, it's just a space filler while I try to come up with a better signature.

Come on Gard, summer is about to hit the town, buy a bike, take some dudes out for dinner and all that. Don't play games. But if you must, try the 'Star Wars: Old Republic' games (not the MMO). I liked them quite alot. Also, Gothic 1 and 2. You might find them somewhere to download. Two pretty old German RPGs, which got translated into English too though. My favorite games.

    Anyway gard,
i have played so many pc games and console games over the years i have lost count, literally.
my gaming addiction started by when i got my first PS1, i had hundreds of games on disks my dad had downloaded and burned for my ps1(on dialup, or slightly faster than dialup, rofl), still have them all.
then i got a PC, i started whoring gba roms, n64/snes/nes roms and old games my computer could handle. I have 400 cd/dvds of games, may not have completed them all.
i currently own 200+ xbox360 and ps3 games, all of them completed.
i upgraded my system 2 years ago and have basically played every notable pc game since 2 years. 4TB of games are on various externals in my house, etc etc
tbh, the games i have fully completed is probably well over 1000 by now.

i'm the type of guy, who picked up skyrim, and completed all the major storues and sidequests in one sitting, i probably need help with my addiction.

i might compile of games/series that are worth getting into at some point, just remind me at some point.
