INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Ops: 1946 Downfall, an alternate scenario succeeded by the initial alternate scenario of the original 1945 Operation:Downfall

This scenario is mainly taking place 1 year after the success of Ops: Coronet and Ops: Olympic resulting in the takeover of the entirety of Kyushu and most of the Kanto plain, in addition to this, the Americans staged another landing in the Kuril islands with support of the Soviets whom as of now off-camera is almost winning alongside the Chinese against Manchuria and Korea.

With that in mind, as Tokyo fell from the hands of the Americans, Hokkaido now pressured by both Russians and the Allies, Kyushu now roaring through south of Honshu, the war bogs down into a tug of war with Japan having to deal with its limited economy whilst the Manhattan project fails to realize and forces the Americans to push through Kyoto, the new capital, by force.

Here is the preview images of the cities

GOALS

Goal of the Japanese:
To delay the push of all American players either by pressuring them via attacking or mass spamming walls, both works either fine depending on your team coordination, all Japanese with the exception of Central Honshu (Orange) is extremely poor forcing all of them to go Imperialist as the go to strategy if ever that there is no planning involved initially with your mates.

Goal of the Americans:
Opposite of the Japanese, your goal is to push and plow through everything they will throw at you and to reach Kyoto before any bad things happen, everyone in this team is rich in their own way with enough money to mass spam units at a decent rate, this results to a more brain-dead approach as well as flexibility on their strategy giving them more than enough advantage against the Japanese.

INDIVIDUAL GOALS

Japanese Side

  • Central Honshu
    Recommended Strat: Imperialism
    Starting Fund - 5000
    Initial Income - +1786
Desc. - You are the richest out of all the Japanese and your goal is to support either South or North by sending your units there, or fund them with your generally decent income, you're the only one that has planes and special units that can only be discovered in your cities so use them to your advantage, in the topic of special units, you also have the Remains of Unit 731, a slow moving yet powerful force that can support any of the pushes you wish to attempt.

  • South Honshu
    Recommended Strat: Imperialism
    Starting Fund - 3500
Initial Income - +590 (will dip at t5)
Desc. - You are the second poorest and is the acting "Serbia" if compared to the 1st World War Scenario, you'll never going to beat Kyushu, not one bit... however you can easily hide between your Defense lines and rely support from the Central to push back the Americans back to Kyushu, not only that, you possess Tsushima on which acts as the impenetrable island whos goal is to give you if given enough money to launch skirmishes to the island of Kyushu to distract the American residing there, this may kill the player at best, or just stall the advance at worse, regardless both an absolute win.

  • North Honshu
    Recommended Strat: Imperialism
    Starting Fund - 3000
    Starting Income - +852
Desc. - You're the largest of all the Japanese players, bolstering large events and many cities, your goal is to stop the advance of Coronet via attacking his strong defense line and breaching in or walling for many times until more of your event arrives, you are in most times with Imperialism in no need of funds, but be wary of Coronet's powerful stacks as they can easily overrun you.

  • Hokkaido
    Recommended Strat: Imperialism / PD
    Starting Fund - 3500
    Starting Income - +126
Desc. - You're the poorest of the poorest in this map having a small positive at the beginning of your turn and lack of reinforcements in your cities, you cannot beat Kuril with what you got and thus your only choice is to delay your inevitable, however, you spawn with a stack capable of turning the tide down in Kyoto in a form of a train filled with units, your choice is there, either use the units to support the attack on Coronet, or bring it all up to Hokkaido and support your life. The choice is yours.

  • Japanese Navy
Recommended Strat: Naval Commander / Imperialism
    Starting Fund - 4500
    Starting Income - +837
Desc. - You're the Imperial Japanese Navy, your goal is to stall the American Navy from obtaining absolute supremacy of your coastal seas, with the option to buy one of the most powerful yet slow ships, you have the upper hand as long as you are funded well, but beware as in the long run, the American Navy will take you out, you have 2 cities [Kure and Osaka] located within the inland sea as to which there is no escape except attacking Kitakyushu in the North Kyushu area, your 2 cities there acts as support for your South Honshu friend as you swoop in to reclaim stolen port cities from the Americans, given enough power, you can even take out Kyushu's north region via Yamaguchi.

American Side:

  • Kyushu
Recommended Strat: RA / Imperialism / Blitz
    Starting Fund - 3000
    Starting Income - +2085
Desc. - You're the largest nation on the American team, your goal is to breach to Kyoto via South Honshu by force, breaking every defense they have and evidently breaking the Defense line, you have enough reinforcements to keep spamming units and support from Tanegashima will give you more and more, beware however as Tsushima is unbreakable and unkillable, and South can use it to get into you and break you over.
Do be aware that you have 1 single transport going Shikoku and that is intentional game design, you should be spilling over via Yamaguchi area and taking out South Japan's income cities there such as Hiroshima and West Shikoku, if that transport sinks, consider that front gone... This is also in effect for the Tanegashima transport.

  • Coronet
    Recommended Strat: Imperialism
    Starting Fund - 3000
    Starting Income - +1627
Desc. - Behind 3 defense lines is Tokyo, and behind Tokyo is your capital, behind that is US Navy's capital... You are extremely important for the safety of the Navy, and thus you have to constantly switch between defending and attacking, slip up and you'll lose Tokyo, and thus giving Japan the much needed income they want.
Your goal is to plow through North Honshu which has the most units in the game in event wise in comparison to its stable income, losing your stack is losing your life, most likely the hardest nation to play in the American team.
Beware that Japan can easily breech your Defense line if they're persistent enough.

  • Kuril
    Recommended Strat: Blitzkireg
    Starting Fund - 3000
    Starting Income - +874
Desc. - Your job is simple, break down Hokkaido and spill into North Honshu enough said... With that I recommend you to go Blitzkrieg for you to mitigate one of the few downsides you have, Kuril Barge is extremely slow which is a necessity transport unit for you to use to carry units from Island to Mainland.
With the help of the exhausted soviets it will be extremely easy for you to kill Hokkaido, easy until the stack from Kyoto arrives, you are to kill Hokkaido before Economic Downfalls echo towards your income as you will be going into negative faster than the rest of the team.

  • American Navy
    Recommended Strat: Naval Commander
    Starting Fund - 3000
    Starting Income - +1538
Desc. - With the help of your air supremacy, you are to beat the resisting Japanese navy with your superior naval power, after cleaning the Navy, your next goal is harassing port cities sealing away the victory of the Americans, no more, no less.
Do not however underestimate their navy, for their spirits is unyielding, their might is undying.

Frequently Asked Question

  • Operation:Downfall was planned during 1945, Why is this set on 1946?
    - This Operation:Downfall is AFTER Downfall, in a sense of that this is a continuation of it... Operation:Olympic and Coronet was a success and thus established a foothold whilst a new Front supported by the Soviets starts in the Kuril area... Off-screen Manchuria has fallen and Korea is on its final defenses which correlates to the event of which the Japanese gave up defending Korea and favored hitting Kyushu with their forces there... Overall with each turn being a month passes, this map lasts long til 1950s
  • Why is Japan so poor? What the hell is this economic inequality?
    - Japan during the time of Operation:Downfall and even before was already running out of resources which in translation to Atwar means less income... to make up for this, they have weaker yet cheaper and more abundant units in the field. this is also the reason of existence of why a Super-Battleship spawns in Kure in T1, it is because its the supposedly final Super-Battleship they have of which lack the fuel to operate it more than in the Inland Sea.
  • Is it possible to leave the Inland sea as the IJN?
    - It is, via glitching your way out on the edge part of Kitakyushu, you will need to ram your ship to the land and need more range to find the right spot to get out of the sea.
