The Players

After a three day ban has given me some time to think over you all, I have come to a startling conclusion that very well shakes the ground you all stand on. You all make this game unplayable. I don't know why everyone here feels the need to troll and ruin games. I do not understand why people leave scenarios turn 1. I don't understand why you all don't get along. But it is infuriating waiting hours to find one good game and then being unable to enjoy it because of the players themselves.

But whatever, it is after all just a game. A game that is almost impossible to play.

I also feel the community is lacking in some areas but hey, what can you do?

If you a want a good gaming experience dont play a scenario with 19 randoms and complain when people are leaving. I suggest you ask in the lobby or start a thread here to gather known and trusted players who want to play the same map at a certain time.

Sad to hear that the 3days ban didn't work out Masih. I very much agree with VRIL's comment. I also only play games with my in game friends (mostly private). Some new players can join, but if they leave in round1 or are trouble, then i will never invite that player to a game again. Its pretty simple to make this AW fun for yourselves.

It isn't new players that leave though. Its rank 6 and above usually that try to ruin games.

And sure, I can ask specific individuals to play games but its hard enough mobilizing 10 out of the 60 inactive people in the lobby to join a game, that would take a lot of time to find 19 others trustworthy enough to play a game.

Maybe everyone should take the time to -1 rep leavers (and allyfags!) more systematically...

Certain people on AtWar can be vexatious as hell. I think it would be best to investigate this matter, and understand the backgrounds behind such annoying players, before jumping to any conclusions.

If possible implementing another button of rep, but this time it will be a negative reputation button.

This way players who have negative rep will be immediately recognized as spoilers of scenario/game.

And to give it a kind of aesthetics, it will be possible to use this button, solely in the first round to a player who left!

After a week or month, the negative rep will be reset to 0

I'm still new but having played at least six or seven games I have encountered some of the things you mention OP. It's not particular to this game though because it happens with all online games involving some aspect of PVP (CoD, Battlefield, RuneScape, WoW, Eve Online etc) It's not stopped me from enjoying each game I have played even if some people leave on turn 1 or do many of the other 'annoying' things found on atWar. I've joined games and left on turn 1 or 2 because something has come up like someone knocking on my door or some cause that will stop me from being able to fully concentrate on playing. It's not really a problem though since there are a few things I found help in joining good games like talking in the lobby to see if any players respond (players might be less likely to leave if they're involved in a good conversation) check their profile and previous games (you can get an idea of how long they play each game by the end score they achieved) or build up a friends list with people from different time zones. It can be annoying sometimes but unless they implement some kind of penalty/report system there isn't much to be done apart from moving on to the next lobby game.

The problem Aluxxi is, in regards to scenarios, everyone rages when these people leave. Take for example UN games, they aren't shit because the players who play them are. They are shit because people leave Turn 1, and so everyone else leaves for a rebake.

The only games that can't be ruined are usually world games, and unfortunately not many people make them with reasonable conditions (15k max, 15 players at least, etc.).


The only way I believe we can police this is by having a list of players that do this on the forums, but every time one is made they get closed by mods.

The problem is objectivity... there is no guarantee that if we allow a "black list" to exist, that the players "black-listed" really are the ones that troll and spoil games. There are more interests involved and players group to isolate another player...
Furthermore, one of the main tasks Mods are attempting to fullfill is that there shall not be hate-speech amomg players. Whwnever a list appears, we have to guarantee that players are not exposed publicly... we cannot allow spaces of vengance, mobbing and bullying.

It should be public, the blacklist. Otherwise, how else will all know can be an expected good player to have?

We can all act like everyone will be wrongly accused. But we should have a list. This list should list players that ruin games. But to be put on the list you should have evidence there like a series of screenshots, or multiple witness accounts.

And I think it is a stretch to say a blacklist is hate speech. Are our enemy lists hate speech now as well? People are dicks in this game. Why can't we share on the forum who is a dick and who isn't?

This is not necessarily a good thing to make a public list of players who allegedly destroy scenarios.

It will cause the community to denounce them, and it will ruin their fun experience in the game.

I believe that is the current idea to not try to stop this problem, and so far it hasn't been fixed.

The idea of a blacklist isn't about hate. If that term bothers you so much, think about it being called a watchlist. But to just willingly accept that your games will be ruined will never fix the problem.

It would be nice, but if that list could be shared without going through a copy/paste process. Hell, if you can put reasons for adding someone on to your enemy list it would be nice as well. All I have on my list is a bunch of names, some of which I don't think I have payed with in months. Being able to identify why I put them there would be nice.

I think it would be lesser a burden on amok & ivan if we found alternatives to prevent the need to add someone on our enemies list.

yes

Put the ones that troll, leave games, etc on your enemy list. That way you know who they are.
Don't let them play your future games, (kick or something) this is what I did for a while.
